It's sorta like a tailgate, only we have to work, curse, cut our fingers, sweat, bust some knuckles, and generally have a great time NOT off-roading, but replacing a defective part on someone ELSE'S vehicle instead, WHILE... missing college and/or pro football while we're at it!!!
Yeah, the alternator died on the Jeep. Replaced the battery yesterday (it was 5 years old, so that wasn't entirely unanticipated) - it ran great... for about 5 minutes... on the way to last night's officer meeting... before the battery light came on - AGAIN.
I replaced the alt on my Grand Marquis 12 years ago. Something tells me this one won't be NEARLY as easy. Figure I'll replace the serpentine belt and tensioner pulley while I'm at it...
Drop me a line if you want in on the fun. I'm debating whether to pull the old one off today, or waiting until tomorrow afternoon, when it's cooler. I also have Monday off to work on it - woot-woot!
